![]() Paste save folder for the map your wanting to play in the same folder as the server.jar and rename it world.Then go to your router and port forward the port giving in the sever properties with your local IP address (same as before).Find your computers local IP through CMD (same as before).Now open the server properties file that was generated in notepad.Once everything has loaded close the server with the command /stop.Put the jar in a folder and run it by double clicking it.Download the server jar file for 1.8.9 from this site: (or the launcher next to the version list).Set up a server on the PC, though this can effect performance as you'd be running the game AND a server from the same PC. Now you'll both be able to play on that world from a different house, BUT note that as soon as you close that world the port will no longer work, as Minecraft creates a new port number each time. Give this IP address to your friend and with the port number.example 86.7.185.43:4241.Once you've added the rule and it's saved go to Google and type Whats My IP, this will give you your External IP address.Settings very depending on router but for me I give it a name, enter the port number that was in the minecraft chat (4241) in both start and end and then enter my local IP number 6.Login to the router and find port forwarding options.Take note of this number and go to your router in a web browser by typing in the address bar 192.168.0.1 (can also sometimes be 192.168.1.1 depends on router, if those don't work then look online for your routers IP address).Look down the list and find your local IP, usually starts with 192.168.0.X (x being the number of your device).Open Command Prompt (search CMD in Windows Start).If the other person is on your network, they can now go to Multiplayer and at the bottom they will see the lan world to connect to, if not then do the following. ![]() Make a note of the port number in the chat (Example: 4241). ![]() The way I do it is to create a LAN world with the map I want to play with a friend and then if my friend isn't on the same network as me (like in another house), I port forward through my routers settings.
